Enable Farms to Transition to Agroforestry
We specialize in planting row-crop and pasture land to improve returns, protect from extreme weather, and deliver on sustainability commitments to carbon, water and biodiversity.

Work With Nature, Not Against it
Industrial practices require increasing, costly external inputs that damage farm land, creating compounding risk
Regenerative practices strengthen soils, improve water quality and enhance biodiversity to improve farm resilience
How We Help
Farm Design & Analytics
Choose crops, design fields, and automatically see the results on costs, revenues, labor assumptions, yield projections, and more.
Planting & Management
Great farms require great people, resources, and services to succeed. We help plant high-quality tree crops by connecting you to our genetic stock, equipment, and labor partners.
Financing Programs
We work with private and public organizations to get farms access to capital on your terms. Qualifying farms can cover up to 100% of the cost to plant and manage tree crops.

Regenerative Practices We Support
Agroforestry is the integration of fruit, nut and timber trees with animal or crop farming systems. We work with tree species that have attractive supply-demand dynamics and good growth prospects.

Propagate has emerged as a leader in agroforestry design and implementation, and collaborating with their team will allow us to both have a greater impact on increasing the understanding and uptake of agroforestry across the country.
Creating the Largest Chestnut Farm in the U.S.
In 2021, Keavin Hill, owner of Hill Farms in central Ohio, recognized a significant opportunity to meet a growing and under-served demand for domesticly produced chestnuts. With Propagate’s help, he transitioned his farmland from corn, soy, and wheat operation to to chestnut and hay production.

Our Service Areas
We work with technical service providers to support the implementation of agroforestry across the United States. The map below illustrates where we work across our three primary services: site analysis, tree procurement, and project development.
We can often work outside of the areas detailed below, depending on project type and size.

Learn More About Agroforestry
Now Accepting Applications for The Expanding Agroforestry Project
Eligible producers in the United States are invited to apply to an incentive payment program from the USDA. Over the course of five years, $36 million will be paid out to producers in direct incentive payments to transform 30,000 acres spanning 30 states into agroforestry systems, thus building a foundation for expanding agroforestry practices nationally.
Chestnuts & Agroforestry: Massive Opportunity for American Farmers
Producing chestnuts in the United States represents a significant opportunity for farmers to meet a growing and under-served demand. In 2022, the U.S. imported roughly 6.7 million pounds valued at $9.8 million. That demand could easily be satisfied with domestic production, bringing substantial profit to farmers.
Silvopasture Creates Profitable and Resilient Food Systems
Livestock producers face increasing threats to farm viability from thin profit margins to extreme weather, and shifting consumer demand. Silvopasture, a form of agroforestry, is one tool in our regenerative toolkit that provides a host of benefits to producers, consumers and the planet, simultaneously.
